Phi-Delt Spring Formal is not only the most looked forward to, culminating event of the year it is also a damn classy formal. And by classy I mean we drank red wine and had a sit-down dinner at a wedding ceremony location for the first/only time of the year.  Then event starts with all Phi-Delt brothers meeting at the Delta House with their 'stunning' dates to take pictures (because its the first/last time you will see us in a shirt and tie), drink champaign (I'm talking Andre, not anything good) and begin get mentally ready for the night we have ahead of us. When the time came we piled into coach buses began the 20 minute drive to the Carrigan Farms Rock Quarry. Upon arrival we parked in a huge field (that looks to be in the middle of know where with no water in site) and then preceded to walk into the trees, down a stone path where it opens up into one of the most amazing sites a Delta could imagine. (Click on the Rock Quarry link above for some awesome pics) The sequence of events usually went something like this.

LET THE DANCING BEGIN
1) Arrive at the Phi-Delt Meca
2) Take memorable group pictures with the Quarry in the background.
3) Eat amazing Steak and Potatoes Dinner made by Quarry Staff.
4) Continue eating the Steak Dinner until there was no more steak available
5) Finish the wine (because it was the most expensive)
6) Great band begins playing all of the Phi-Favorites
7) Epic Senior Speech takes place - Junior Speaker roasts / congratulates  / idolizes Seniors for their amazing four years. The speech our class gave has been enshrined at the Delta House ever since. (pic. middle right)
8) The dance floor becomes alive with great dancing and (pic. top right)
9) Begin focusing on the ten kegs of Carolina Blonde
10) Shirts-Off with Tie pictures become more frequent (below)
11) Someone gets naked and cliff-dives into Quarry and swims to dock
12) #11 starts a chain reaction....
SENIOR SPEECH
(MCGREEVY)
13) Try to find your way and not miss buses back to Davidson
14) Recover Stragglers (pic. bottom right)
15) Return to Delta House --- Keep It Going!!!!

That should give you an idea of how the Phi-Delt Spring Formal usually goes. There are a hundred of stories and moments that I will never forget and I know none of the guys/girls that were there will either. UNREAL -UNBELIEVABLE - UNTHINKABLE - UNREALISTIC TO HAVE THIS MUCH FUN!!!

My Junior year at Davidson was one for the books. I was still living off-campus with Beaux, Fitz and the wildcard of the Spring Semester Aaron Baila. Aaron was a senior Phi-Delt that graduated early and instead of starting his job at Dell in the winter he decided that he, and the rest of the campus, would be better suited if he stayed to live it up for a 'class-less' spring semester. Aaron staying at Davidson for the spring meant more Monday-Thursday parties at the apartment and more chicken parmesan at the dinning facility (he worked as a 'lunch lady' to make extra beer money hahah, I wish I was making it up, hairnet and all). The year was filled with epic Phi-Delt originals like, Airband, Christmas Cocktails, Blackout Beach Party, The Uniform Party (picture on top) and Ladies Night. Along with these, the fraternity runs the Bench-press for Breast Cancer fundraiser where all the football players get paid by participating students based on how many reps of 225 lbs they could do. (The bench-press racks are placed in the middle of campus to draw the biggest crowd and all money is donated to Breast Cancer research) -Pictures Below!

The great times kept rolling as we followed our Men's Basketball team to a Southern Conference Championship and pilled into our Student Union to watch them play Maryland in the first round of the '07 NCAA tournament.  Although we took at 10 point lose, it gave the team the experience it was going to need for the next years run. Picture below is my buddy Thomas Sander getting embarrassed...he will never live down this photo. The next sports in-line was baseball, in which we supported many of our fellow Phi-Delts as they took the field for the 2007 season. We cheered, berated, sang, laughed and had a drink or two for every Davidson home game. The videos below will paint a pretty clear picture of what right field was all about and why opposing teams/players still tell me how much they looked forward to or hated playing us.

Along with baseball season, we participated in Spring Formals, like the Connor Formal (picture top right), and our own Phi-Delt Spring Formal. Our Spring Formals were legendary at the fan favorite Rock Quarry and deserve there own post...I will produce one in good time. Another Davidson tradition is Spring Frolics which is a campus sponsored party that stretches from Thursday through Sunday in late April. Walking through campus you will see carnival rides, games,  HUGE slip & slides, bands playing on fraternity porches (Nappy Roots in '07) and 'on-by-the-way' about 5 kidi-pools full of beer / horse shoe games / beach volleyball / corn-hole tournaments and a peluthra of shenanigans in the Phi-Delt hosted party. Its called Spring Frolics and FROLIC we did!!!

When it was all said and done, 2006-07 at Davidson College was an unreal experience and was worth every all-nighter, 15 page paper and absurdly boring lecture by ten-fold. Each year was getting better and I couldn't imagine what my senior year would bring.

ME AND WILL NOLTE (DELTA LIL' BROTHER)
Davidson 2005-06 was a 'to be expected' amazing year. It started with two of my good friends / teammates moving to an off-campus apartment known as the Depot. Beaux, Fitz and I made the 442 our own with a stuffed wildcat (below), a mounted deer (below), an custom beer pong table (above), and a hall-of-fame- jersey wall to include Beaux's Dad's LSU jersey -  Bert Jones (below). We took full-advantage of being off-campus and made our sophomore year impossible to forget.
Activities like sailing Lake Norman on the Lemon's boat (pic above), keg softball (involves all fielders having a mandatory pint, a keg and/or 30 cases of Milwaukee Best Light at second base and a non-optional chug off between the runner and fielder at all close plays), dominating right field of all Davidson Baseball games (where we cleared trees, cemented in lawn chairs and perfected the art of harassing chants) and creating D-Block at Davidson Basketball games (two rows directly behind the away team's bench where hand selected Phi-Delts stood and 'got-in-the-heads' of all opponents that stepped into Belk Arena).
THE CAT

The fraternity also began to come into its own as random parties become yearly events that were planned for, looked forward to and dominated by Phi-Delt members. These events included Airband dance contest, Blackout Beach Party (pic above), Christmas Cocktails, Dunk-Delta's for Diabetes fundraising event, Ladies Night (refer to 'Ladies Night' post), 'The' Phi-Delt Formal and that was just to name a few. It was a great year with great friends doing things that I know most people won't experience.

DAVIDSON ROLL-UP 04-05

(PAT FITZGERALD AND ME)

After a 3-8 Football season and a torn ALC/MCL and every other CL thats located in your knee all I wanted to do was head north back to Tri-State. The teammates and friends I met my freshmen year is the reason I stayed. By March I knew I would NEVER transfer and North Carolina would be my home for the next four years.
